In memory of Otto. He was the most handsome and gentle boy, and he brought so much to our lives. We miss him so much but we are grateful for three and a half years with him.

Olive

Olive died aged 14. She was such a gentle dog who never threatened or tried to bite. All you would get was a reproachful look. Olive was also mischievous, and a lot of fun. She stole my dinner the first night we had her, even though she had only just been fed. As you can see she liked water. She liked to lie down high up and look at views.

In October we said our farewells to our beautiful, confident, tail wagging Lily. She was well known in the village and loved all the attention from her ‘fans’, especially if they had treats! She had doggy friends too, of all sizes. Lily showed her quiet, gentle side when little children stroked her and after a hip operation, I had to walk slowly and carefully, and she matched her pace with mine, glancing up at me as we negotiated a slope or kerb. Lily, you will never be forgotten.

Dear Clara, we love you and miss you so much every day. It's been over a year since you got sick now, and 9 months since we said goodbye, and this has been our first Christmas without you. In Sept 2022 we had to say goodbye to our lovely Kitty age 9 💔. Here she was happy in the sun only a month before she died of bone cancer. She was our first greyhound, she was absolutely wonderful and brought so much happiness to our lives. Beautiful Basil, a soft, loving member of our family and our dearest friend and close companion who we adored. He spent many happy hours in the summerhouse and many more happy hours relaxing in his large bed in the lounge and often joining us on our bed first thing in the morning. Basil passed away very suddenly but peacefully on 25 March 2022. His presence we shall miss but his memory we will treasure. We shall love him always and he will be in our thoughts forever.

You were Bedtime Andy as a racing dog but when we homed you after your racing days were over you just became Andy a free spirit with a wonderful temperament who loved to run so gracefully in the field behind our house and who loved meeting and greeting all other dogs big or small. Sadly he left us at the age of 12 never to be forgotten.

My beautiful girls. Such gentle souls and so dedicated to each other. You loved hunting in our garden, going rides in the car and holidays in the caravan. I miss those big brown eyes when I wake in the morning Jenny, and the snoot poking me in the behind because you wanted your Bonio. I miss my cute Sally, so focused on catching those mice yet such a sweetie. It broke our hearts to lose you both but I know you will be waiting with Honey and Bessie until we join you. I adopted Timba in 2012 when he was aged 7. He was a survivor from the racing injury. He died in 2019 aged 14years, 5 months and died peacefully in his sleep. He was such a character and I miss him greatly.

Our first encounter was you nuzzling us with attention-seeking affection. From then our hearts were completely sold. Mischief, kindness and huge affection. You left a huge pawprint on our hearts.

Muffin was an amazing non chasing greyhound who came into our lives at 18months old. She sadly passed away on 31st December 2021 at the age of 15. She is very sadly missed and was loved by many people

My beautiful baby girl, my companion through such horrid times and always in my heart. I had 9 wonderful years with you taking up most the bed and putting your claws in my hair while I slept. Calm, gentle and mummy's "perfection on four legs". You made my life complete. I know 14 years and 3 months is a good age but it felt too soon to say goodbye. I miss you baby girl. Every day.

Sadly we lost our beautiful girl on the 2nd April 2022 at the ripe old age of 13. The softest, sweetest, funniest dog we could ever have asked for. She put a smile on our faces every day and was such a huge part of our family. Love you forever Rubes. Sweet dreams xxx

Our first greyhound but wont be our last. Such a gentleman, put the rest of us to shame. Read2Dogs PAT dog but mainly pub and coffee shop companion animal. These dogs are such noble creatures (unless you’re a cat or a squirrel). Heartbroken to have lost you at just 9 1/2, after your racing career ended at a very respectable 4 1/2. We think you had cancer and perhaps suffered more than we realised but never complained and did all we asked of you until you could no longer go on. My rock.

Skippy (Skippys Maldini)

We were devastated to lose our gorgeous boy Skippy on 21st January. He was such a gentle soul and will be forever missed by us all including Judy his greyhound pal for 12 months. Sleep tight loyal friend and brave boy.

Mildred

A lovely gentle girl who really loved people. She was with us for 5 years, before sadly passing at home aged 10 in Feb 2021. Mildred loved sitting in this armchair, with backside in the air.

Eileen & the Hounds

Paddy was our first greyhound and ensured that we wouldn't consider any other breed in the future! He was so soft and loving, but we lost him with cancer at only 9. Big George was our next and soon had his feet under the table; however, as he didn't like to be left on his own we got Angel. They soon became best friends and enjoyed many cottage holidays with us! They both left us for the bridge at 13. They are pictured with my darling Eileen who has very sadly joined them recently.

Sally/Salbert/Miss Sal

Our Miss Sally was called suddenly to the rainbow bridge. Though she was passing gracefully through her twilight years, it seems an undetected cancer had other plans than to let you stay with us a little longer. We miss the sound of your chattery teeth when you threw a tantrum, and the half zoomies you did when you pretended to hunt squirrels in the back garden. Most of all, we miss that smile, always beaming back at us, all day, every day. Rest well sweet girl xx

Lord Dashington Trumpypants you saved me in more ways than I can ever tell you. I miss you everyday. You loved life (apart from the rain). You were taken too early and too quickly. You indelible paw print is on my heart forever.

Maggie

Maggie was a very specialty greyhound who could hear the cheese packet open from wherever she was. Nothing she loved more than food, strokes and Sleeping. Even when I was diagnosed with cancer early 2021 she always sensed when I wasn’t feeling great and came and sat with me sometimes just laying her head. She passed in August 2021, we miss her so much but know that we gave her the best 10 years of her 11 1/2 year life we had her

Violet - Clear Ice - 2009 to 2019

The greyhound girl that stole our hearts and started us on a new journey with the Greyhound Trust and made us fall in love with this amazing breed. A snowflake brindle beauty we were so proud to say was our retired girl, who became a greyhound friend to so many people across the UK who met her and then followed her on social media. An ambassadog for Greyhound Trust and later Sighthound Social Club which she continues to do in many images still in circulation. We miss you always V xx
